Getting to Know Your New Students Through Ice Breaker Activities

Ice breaker activities help you and your students get to know each other at the start of a new school year. When everyone's a little nervous and looking to break the ice, use these simple fun activities to start conversations, uncover surprising commonalities, and generally warm up the new relationships for the coming year together.

One of my favorites is the Human Scavenger Hunt game.  I choose to participate alongside my students.  How do you help your students relax and get to know each other during the first week of school?

I do the opposite. The first day of school as a matter of fact is a day that sets the tone for the school year…that in the classroom learning takes place and works is done.

I do the ice-breaker activities during the second or third week.

Thanks,
