Andrea Mulder-Slater is a professional artist, writer and art educator with a special interest in art history.
Experience: Having worked within two public art galleries (including the McMicheal Canadian Collection), conducting tours of historical exhibitions, creating information handouts and leading art classes, Andrea has many years experience with the art of the past and present. At the request of a public art gallery, she developed an innovative outreach program designed to bring art and artists into the classroom at the Primary, Junior and Intermediate levels. Her continuing commitment to the arts in education can be seen at KinderArt.
Andrea has covered several arts and culture scenes as a freelancer and was a senior writer at Chart Magazine from 1995 to 1997. Her articles and opinions have been featured in magazines such as Venue, Access, WalMart Profile, Eye Weekly and X-Static as well as journals including Gig, BBN, The Examiner, The Metal Arts Guild MAGazine and The Upper Canadian Antique Journal. In her spare time, Andrea builds small suspension bridges and leaps tall buildings in a single bound. Find out more at About Toronto.
Education: Andrea holds a three-year honors degree with a major in fine art and art history from the Georgian School of Design and Visual Arts.
From Andrea Mulder-Slater: "I provide readers with entertaining and informative articles, facts and tidbits on the art of the ages. From my early memories of viewing the art of the masters up close and personal, to teaching children and adults about the lives of the great ones, I have, and always will be an art history geek. I am also an information junkie and as such, I guarantee you the best in historical links and resources."
