Teacher in the Spotlight

Mr. Marjan Glavac
Bonaventure Meadows Public School
London, Ontario, Canada

Marjan Glavac has been teaching elementary school for 14 years. Currently he is a grade 6 teacher at Bonaventure Meadows Public School in London, Ontario, Canada. (He is also the webmaster at the school's world wide web site).

Glavac is also a moderator for the Electronic Network of Ontario Teachers' Internet service, has taught a Navigating the Internet online course at the University of Western Ontario and in 1993, his previous school was the first elementary school in London to be connected to the Internet through the SchoolNet project.

Awards and Kudos

In 1994, Glavac was a member of the school team that won the Roberta Bondar award for Science and Technology. In 1995, he was a member of a team from Ontario that had its NEWSONTARIO proposal accepted for a Nortel National Institute Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 1996, he won the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Technology Education and Mathematics Award and in 1997, he was awarded the Roy Hill Hilroy Award.

Visit Marjan's Glavac's Teacher Web Page to read about all of the cool projects he and his grade 6 class have been involved in. We're talking very neat stuff like communicating via email with Japanese teachers, connecting with 37 schools in 6 countries and producing an award-winning newspaper called The Meadow News.

Congratulations Mr. Glavac. Keep up the outstanding work!
