How to Get the Most Out of This Site

You may be surprised to see a brand new look on the About.com family of sites. After analyzing the needs of our audience and listening to a tremendous amount of input from you and everyone here on the About.com team, we proudly unveiled the new look on Wednesday, April 12, 2000.

If you're a regular visitor, don't worry - the same great information, links, and discussions are available to you. And, if you're new to the site, I welcome you to a new, improved world of resources for elementary school teachers.

Here's a quick rundown of the major changes that were made and what it means to you:

  • Subjects - If you're looking for hundreds of handpicked links to the best educational web sites, you'll find them in the new "Subjects" pages, which have been combined with my original content under one roof. The Subjects directory appears on the left site of every page on my site, providing the easiest and quickest path to the information you need.
  • In the Spotlight - Look to the top of the home page for the "In the Spotlight" section, which will continue to showcase the most recent and relevant information on the site. The new look makes it easy for you to see what others think and for you to speak out with corresponding links to the Message Board and Chat Room, when appropriate.
  • Essentials - The new "Essentials" section includes all of the most essential information for teachers, right on the home page. Just look to this regularly updated section for the site's most popular and useful resources.
  • Did You Know? - The "Did You Know?" feature highlights an interesting fact related to teaching elementary school with a link to related content. This will be updated regularly and offers a quick tidbit that you might be interested in exploring further.
  • Search - If you're looking for something specific related to K-6 Educators, simply use the search box on the top of each page on the site.
  • Lastly, you won't see it on the site itself, but behind the scenes, I've got great new tools that will make it easier for me to provide the freshest and most relevant content anywhere on the Net.
If you have any questions about how to find something on this site, please feel free to email me. Also, you can check "More Stuff for K-6 Educators" which serves as kind of a comprehensive Table of Contents.

I look forward to continuing to provide you with the best links, thoughtful features, relevant discussions, and free lesson plans.

Enjoy!
