Dolch Sight Words

From , former About.com Guide

Definition: Prepared by Dr. Edward Dolch in 1936, the Dolch sight words list is comprised of 220 words that must be learned in order to master the English language. For the most part, these words can't be taught through pictures and/or phonics.

As a whole, these words include 50-75% most common words in English. Build daily routines that give children opportunities to practice reading, speaking, and writing these words. This will instill confidence in a developmentally appropriate pattern.
