Organization is Key
- By maintaining meticulous organization of my lesson plans and teaching materials, I save so much time year after year. While it takes a lot of deliberate effort to initially design my lessons and set up a good filing system, when it comes time to teach the same units again the next school year, I know exactly where to find my tools and I don't have to "reinvent the wheel" each year. Think Units, Not Just Lessons
- This might sound weird, but it actually works for me: when I am trying to think of lessons to teach, I actually create a whole unit. I try to think of my objectives, and I create a unit. Granted, it’s not very detailed, but it works as a stating point. I then create individual lessons based on how my kids progressed during the day.
