Do you think your administration/district place too much emphasis on test scores and, if so, how do you handle that pressure? Sometimes, it's hard as a teacher to balance the intense focus on test scores which are an important and public indicator of what's going on in the classroom AND the multitude of things that are required of and accomplished by teachers, as well as the real learning that happens every day but may not show up on test scores. In this era of unprecedented accountability and public pressure, how do you view test scores?11:20 PM # What Are Your Most Important Rules?Which rules couldn't you live without? Which rules keep you and your students sane and organized day in and day out? Since this is my second week of school, I've been thinking about what is making my classroom work so well this year. I think it's the following two rules that form the basis for our quiet, hard-working atmosphere: 1) Students may not speak unless they raise their hand or are asked a question by the teacher. 2) Students must stay in their seats unless given permission to go to the restroom or get a drink of water.
