Definition: In Education, Job Sharing refers to the practice of two teachers sharing one employment contract. Everything in the contract - including the salary, terms, benefits, hours, and responsibilities - are shared between the two teachers as broken down by an agreed-upon percentage.
For example, the contract could be shared 50/50, 40/60, or similar. The teachers work out of the same classroom, teach the same group of students, share the same budget, and work cooperatively to present a unified, consistent front to students, their parents, and the community.
Job Sharing is a popular practice for teachers who wish to work on a part-time basis.
